From humble beginnings to legendary endings.

Providing youth of various backgrounds with the necessary skills for success in today’s society.

Humble Beginnings was founded in 2009 by Mychal Greenwood & Eddie Lynch, two childhood friends from Cleveland, Ohio. Humble Beginnings offers mentoring and educational support with a strong emphasis on financial literacy to students of underserved communities. The program is designed to help youth improve goal setting skills and most importantly the ability to achieve them.

Our program is designed to empower students to take control of their future successes and grow from any shortcomings. We’ve been partnered with MNPS (Metro Nashville Public Schools) since 2018 and proud to say we’ve had the opportunity to have a positive impact on over 100 students. We currently have a 100% high school graduation rate with over 70% having pursued some form of higher education immediately after.

“Don’t let your situation that you’re in now define who you’re going to become later. It’s not where you start; it’s how you finish.”

- Joseph Sonnier (Worked from janitor to principal with a Master’s degree)

Community Impact

Education happens within the context of a larger community. Our approach extends beyond the classroom to help ensure students have the necessary tools to do and be their best.
